Equipment

  • Clean cutting board
  • Mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 4 sandwich rolls or burger buns
  • 1 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground turkey preferably 93% lean
  • 1 tablespoon of finely minced garlic approximately 3 cloves
  • 1 teaspoon of kosher sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of Dijon-style mustard
  • 3 tablespoons of Worcestershire seasoning
  • 1/4 cup of finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup of finely chopped fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 cup of finely chopped scallions both white and green parts
  • 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon of grated Parmesan cheese
  • Green Onion Cream Cheese Sauce

Instructions

  • Set up your kitchen space with a clean cutting board, mixing bowl, and all your ingredients. Preheat your grill or frying pan over medium-high heat.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey with minced garlic, salt, pepper, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, fresh herbs (parsley, basil, scallions), smoked paprika, and Parmesan cheese. Use your hands to blend everything until fully incorporated. Avoid overmixing, as this can lead to tough burgers.
  • Divide the mixture into four equal portions. Shape each portion into a burger patty, about 1 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb. This helps the burgers cook evenly and prevents them from puffing up.
  • Brush the grill grates with olive oil to prevent sticking. Place the patties on the hot grill. Cook for 5-7 minutes on one side without flipping. This ensures a nice golden crust. Flip the patties gently and grill for another 5-7 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  • While the burgers are grilling, mix all the cream cheese sauce ingredients together. Adjust the flavor to your liking with lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  • Once the patties are cooked, place them on your choice of buns. Slather on the green onion cream cheese sauce and top with your favorite toppings—tomatoes, lettuce, pickles—whatever floats your boat!

Notes

  • Choose the Right Turkey: Opt for 93% lean ground turkey. This balance maintains moisture without excess fat.
  • Don’t Skip the Indentation: Making a thumbprint in each patty helps them maintain their shape while cooking.
  • Keep it Chill: Chill the patties for about 30 minutes before grilling to help them hold together better.
  • Experiment with Seasonings: Feel free to swap in your favorite spices or herbs if you want to mix things up.
  • Use a Meat Thermometer: To ensure safe cooking, check that the internal temperature hits at least 165°F.
